Lemont Furnace, PA- Softball splits double header with Penn State New Kensington.

Penn State Fayette Softball was able to stop Penn State New Kesingtons 3-0 run in the PSUAC with a win in the second game of the double header yesterday afternoon. Although the first game resulted in a loss, Fayette hung tight against the 11-2 New Kesington team with a score of 3-2. Despite the first loss of the day, Fayette rebounded quickly winning the second game of the double header 5-2. Fayette's batting was strong in the second game, getting a total of 13 hits, opposed to the 7 in the first game.

Showing up huge for Fayette in the second game was Cassidy Uphold with 3 hits, 2 RBIs and 1 run, along with newcomers Olivia Logan (2 runs, 2 hits, 1 RBI) and Carrissa Caldwell (2 runs and 2 hits).

Head Softball Coach Alex Rohlf shared her thoughts about the game, "These were two very hard fought games by both teams. In game one, a couple of inches may have given us the win. But I was proud of how we rebounded to get the split. This was a true team win, every person on our roster did something to push us over the top. This is great momentum to take into big weekend of conference games."

Softball will have an eventful weekend with double headers both Sunday and Saturday. Friday's games will be 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. Saturday's games will be at 12:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. with a giveaway and Youth Day.
