Penn State Fayette Dominates!

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Nittany Lions put on an offensive clinic!

Saturday was Fayette's annual Youth Day where kids get to go on the field for lineups and the national anthem. The Nittany Lions were quick to get things started in the first game with three runs in the first inning and two in the second. In the third inning, Fayette would explode for nine runs. After finishing the fourth inning with seven more runs, Fayette won 21-1.

Every player in the batting order tallied at least one hit, with multiple players getting over two. Olivia Logan keeps her hot streak going batting 5-5 and scoring three runs. Carissa Caldwell batted 4-5 and scored four runs. Liz Murphy also batted a perfect 4-4 while bringing in two runs.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Fayette would continue just where they had left off.

Thanks to some poor pitching to start the game, Fayette would be given loaded bases. Olivia Logan would capitalize on the opportunity by hitting the team's first home run of the season, which also happened to be a grand slam. In the third inning, Fayette would bring in 12 more runs. Fayette swept the series after winning the second game 25-0.

Olivia Logan batted 4-4 with a grand slam and eight total RBIs. Lauran Minerd and Madison Cyphert would also bring in three runs each while batting 2-4. Senior pitcher Haley White won the day by pitching a no-hitter through all five innings.

Fayette looks to keep its streak up on Tuesday, April 11, at 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.
