SB drops two to PSU Mont Alto

Mont Alto, Pa- Fayette Softball drops two to Penn State Mont Alto.

It was a rough start for Fayette in their first PSUAC game of the season. Mont Alto came out hot with a 12-0 score, finishing the game in only 5 innings. However, the second game was a different story. In the first inning Fayette started up with a 3-1 lead. Mont Alto caught fire once again scoring 6 runs ove the 5th and 6th inning. Despite Fayette's best efforts, the score resulted in a 8-5 win in Mont Alto's favor. Despite the loss, Sophia Zalar accomplished 2 runs, 2 hits and 2 stolen bases. Also showing up big for Fayette was Taryn Stewart with 3 hits and 1 run.

Coach Howell commented on the games," Game 1 was a tough loss for sure.  We just couldn't adjust to the speed and movement of Glacer(Mont Alto Pitcher) who to her credit just had everything working.  So I challenged my players going into game 2 to attack at the plate and just make the routine plays on defense. And that they did, our bats came out on fire in the first.  It all starts with Sophia Zalar, when she finds a way to get her speed on base it just sets the tone for the hitters after her. Overall even though it was 2 losses on the day I was very proud of how this team handled themselves in a difficult Game 1 then made adjustments in game 2 and almost picked up a huge win. We are a young team who is still learning and all I ask of them is to fight every inning and just continue to learn and improve, and so far that's what I am getting and I can't love it more!"

Fayette will play at home on Tuesday against Penn State Du Bois for a 2:00 P.M. start.
