Fayette drops heartbreaker to Hazleton

January 28, 2011--Uniontown, Pa.

The Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions suffered their second consecutive conference setback, falling 56-50 to Penn State Hazleton. The loss drops Fayette to 4-2 in the PSUAC while Hazleton improved to 3-4.

Sophomores Kasey Ruble and Kayla Hatfield each scored 12 points, while Ruble pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds, but it was not enough to match Hazleton's balanced scoring. Freshman Jill Guthrie chipped in 11 points while sophomore Kaitlyn Novak finished with eight points.

Fayette struggled from the field, shooting 19-for-64 (29 percent), including only 14 percent from behind the arc. Hazleton also dominated the free-throw line, making more free throws (14) than the Lady Roaring Lions attempted (11). Hazleton also outrebounded Fayette 51-40 and got plenty of help from their bench, outscoring Fayette 12-2.

Hazleton was led by Kadisha Lynah with 15 points, while Tiffany Donnelly pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds. Lisa Miller chipped in 11 points for the Lady Lions.

Fayette takes on Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fayette Community Center Main Arena, followed by a road date with Penn State DuBois on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 6:00 p.m.
