Comeback comes up short for Fayette against Brandywine

February 12, 2011--Uniontown, Pa.

Freshman Jill Guthrie posted her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions, but it was not enough to overcome Penn State Brandywine, who took home a 75-71 win. The game saw four lead changes and two ties, most coming in the second half. The loss drops the Lady Roaring Lions to 9-4 in the PSUAC, while Brandywine improves to 10-1.

Sophomore Kayla Hatfield scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while junior Jennifer Thomas continued her strong contributions from the bench, netting 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting.

Despite outshooting the Lady Lions 42 percent to 38 percent from the floor, Brandywine got to the free throw line 28 times, making 17. The Lady Lions also forced 33 turnovers, turning them into 16 points. Fayette matched Brandywine in rebounds with 46, but struggled to take advantage of their 15 offensive rebounds, scoring only five second chance points.

Brandywine was led by Shari Harper with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Amber Chandler collected 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Roaring Lions host Penn State DuBois on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center Main Arena. The games concludes the Fayette regular season, and a win clinches a home playoff game for the Lady Roaring Lions.
