Fayette women fall in semis

The third-seeded Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions were upended by second-seeded Penn State Brandywine, 86-73, in the semifinals of the PSUAC playoffs. The loss ends Fayette's run at a conference title, but they will continue their season on Wednesday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the USCAA National Championship Tournament at Penn State Fayette.

 

Fayette was led by freshman Jill Guthrie with 17 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Kaitlyn Novak chipped in 16 points. Junior Jennifer Thomas rounded out the Lady Roaring Lions in double figures with 11 points.

 

Fayette was outrebounded 57-40, while Brandywine scored 30 points in the paint, several on second chances from offensive rebounds. Fayette cut the lead to four in the second half, but was unable to get any closer after trailing 38-30 at halftime.

 

Brandywine was led by Amanda Congialdi with 21 points, while Shari Harper added 19.
