
Fast Start Propels Lady Roaring Lions to 93-75 Win over Beaver
LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The Lady Roaring Lions took control of the game by scoring the first 10 points of the game en route to a 92-75 win over Penn State Beaver on Thursday at Fayette.
Not only did Fayette run off the first 10 points of the game, they did it without missing a shot. Jill Guthrie (Uniontown, Pa.) started the Lady Roaring Lions off by hitting a layup 11 seconds into the game.
Kasey Ruble (Fairchance, Pa.) buried a jumper to finish the run, before Jocelyn Warfield's layup put Beaver on the board.
A Morgan Kurtz jumper and a three from Brooke Mulneix close the gap to five at 12-7 at the 15:45 mark.
Fayette led 49-35 at the break and Beaver would not get any closer than 11 in the second half.
Guthrie, first team All-American scored a game high 25 points as the Lady Roaring Lions put five players in double figures. Sophomore Second Team All-American Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa.) added 17 while Freshman Tara Neely (Morgantown, W.Va.) added 14 for Fayette (3-3, 3-0).
Ruble, also a Second Team All-American, added 11 and freshman Shannon Flament (Charleroi, Pa.) 10.
Fayette concludes the 2012 portion of the schedule by hosting Point Park College on Saturday at 7 p.m.
