Women Win Third Straight, 64-52 over Greater Allegheny

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The 11th-ranked Lady Roaring Lions made it three in a row and remained unbeaten in PSUAC play with a 64-52 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday in the Main Arena.

Shelby Yourchik (Clarksville, Pa.) sank a free throw with 13 minutes to go in the first half to give Fayette a 13-12 lead. The Lady Roaring Lions (6-6, 5-0) would not relinquish the lead again.

Yourchik's free throw started an 11-2 run capped off when Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa.) stole the ball and went coast to coast for the layup to put Fayette ahead 23-15.

The Lady Roaring Lions led by as many as 13 in the second half before holding off a late Greater Allegheny rally.

Wontroba led Fayette with 19 points and six rebounds. Tara Neely (Morgantown, W.Va.) came off of the bench to score 10 while Kasey Ruble (Fairchance, Pa.) added nine and Carly Gruss (Johnstown, Pa.) added eight from the bench.

In all, Fayette got 22 points from its bench to Greater Allegheny's one.
