LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The Lady Roaring Lions overcame a sluggish first half performance to come away with a 68-58 win over Penn State Hazleton at the Community Center's Main Arena on Friday.
Fayette started slowly, trailing 9-0 four minutes in. Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa.) made a nifty steal and fed Shannon Flament (Charleroi, Pa.) for a layup to put the Lady Roaring Lions on the board.
The Lady Roaring Lions trailed by one at the half, before erupting for 41 second half points.
Carly Gruss (Johnstown, Pa.) made a layup to start a 16-3 run that gave Fayette (8-7, 7-1) command of the game.
Wontroba led all scorers with 19 points and three steals. Flament continued her outstanding play off of the bench with 11 and eight rebounds. Kasey Ruble (Fairchance, Pa.) grabbed eight rebounds and dished out eight assists.
