Novak's Career High 27 Sparks Win over DuBois

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The Lady Roaring Lions continued defense of their PSUAC title with a 100-47 victory over Penn State Dubois in the Lion's Den on Tuesday.

Fayette came out hot and by the time Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa.) hit a layup with 11 minutes to go, the Lady Roaring Lions led 29-6 and never looked back.

Kaitlyn Novak (Bobtown, Pa.) set the tone early, going 4-5 from the three point arc in the first half. The senior from Mapletown scored a career high 27 points to lead all scorers.

Wontroba added 22 and dished out three assists. Kasey Ruble (Fairchance, Pa.) finished with 15 points, four steals, five assists and six rebounds. Freshman Shannon Flament (Charleroi, Pa.) came off of the bench to score 10 and three steals.

Carly Gruss (Johnstown, Pa.) notched four assists.

Stephanie Longo (Point Marion, Pa.) grabbed a career high eight rebounds for the Lady Roaring Lions who improved to 12-7 overall and 11-2 in PSUAC play.

The win ensured that Fayette will host a quarterfinal round game in the PSUAC championships and sets up a winner-take-all showdown with Penn State Brandywine on Saturday for the top seed in the tournament. Tip-off is set for Noon and it will be Senior Appreciation Day.
