Eighth-Seeded Lady Roaring Lions Upset Top Seed in Quarterfinals

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. –  The Lady Roaring Lions are on to the semifinals of the USCAA National Basketball Championships. Fayette punched its ticket with an 86-78 win over top-seeded Central Maine Community College.


Kasey Ruble (Fairchance, Pa.)led the Roaring Lions with her first double-double of the year, scoring 23 and adding 12 rebounds. Freshman Shannon Flament (Charleroi, Pa.) also notched her first career double-double with 13 points  and 12 rebounds. Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa) added 17, six assists and five steals.

 

Tara Neely (Morgantown, Pa.)added 16 off of the bench and Kaitlyn Novak (Bobtown, Pa.) added 11.

 

Fayette will now fact Berkeley, N.Y. in the national semifinals at 7 p.m. in the Main Arena.
