Lady Roaring Lions cruise to victory over Lehigh Valley

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lady Roaring Lions cruised to a 101-48 win over Penn State Lehigh Valley in the first meeting between the two schools on Saturday night at Stabler Arena.

With the score tied at 10, Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa.) hit a three to break the tie with 15:37 to play. A little over seven minutes later, Wontroba buried a short floater to cap off at 25-5 run for the Lady Roaring Lions (5-4, 4-0 PSUAC). The Lady Roaring Lions then ran off a 17-6 run to close out the half and take a 59-29 lead into the locker room. Fayette outscored Lehigh Valley (3-3, 0-2, PSUAC) 42-19 in the final period.

Jill Guthrie (Uniontown, Pa.) led all scorers with 31 points. Kaitlin Miller (Bald Eagle, Pa.) notched her second consecutive double-double scoring 14 and grabbing 15 rebounds. Shannon Flament (Charleroi, Pa.) had the first double-double of her career, scoring 11 and pulling down 15 rebounds to go with four assists.

Courtney Haines (McClellandtown, Pa.) scored 17 and notched three assists while Wontroba added 15.

Tara Neely (Morgantown, W.Va.) dished out four assists and had five steals.

Ashley Gordon had a double-double for Lehigh Valley (3-4, 0-3) with 19 points 12 rebounds. Taylor Russell added 11 and had six blocks for the Lady Lions.
