Lady Roaring Lions Win Seventh Straight

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Playing nearly in her back yard, freshman Kaitlin Miller led five Lady Roaring Lions in double figures as Fayette cruised to a 90-54 win over Penn College.

Miller had her best intercollegiate game, setting career highs in points (18) and rebounds (20) to go with three blocks. Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa.) added 17 and handed out six assists. Shannon Flament (Charleroi, Pa.) notched her first double-double of the season, scoring 16 and pulling down 15 for Fayette's 70 rebounds.

Courtney Haines (McClellandtown, Pa.) scored 12 and added four steals. Tara Neely (Morgantown, Pa.) scored 10 to go with four assists. Jill Guthrie (Uniontown, Pa.) added eight points and 13 rebounds as the Roaring Lions won their seventh straight win to improve to 7-4 on the season and a PSUAC leading 6-0.

Fayette trailed 7-6 two minutes into the game when Neely drilled a three from the left side to key a 20-2 run that gave the Lady Roaring Lions control of the game. The run featured a pair of threes, a layup and two free throws from Wontroba, another three from Neely and a free throw from Shelby Yourchik, (Clarksville, Pa.).

A 24-3 run closed out the period and gave the Lady Roaring Lions a commanding 57-19 lead.

From there Fayette cruised to the win.

The Lady Roaring Lions return to action and Tuesday when they host Point Park University for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
