Lady Lions Cruise to Another Victory

LEMONT FURNACE, PA – The Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions pulled ahead with a quick lead in the game against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday night, finishing the first quarter up 19-5. Near the end of the fourth quarter, the Fayette Ladies had a lead of 46 points before Greater Allegheny shortened the lead to result in the final score of 81-39.

Jess Manfredi led Greater Allegheny with 15 points, scoring nearly half of their points and Tori Johnston added 9 more. Dominating in rebounds was Andrea Burroughs with 14.

The newest member to the Fayette women's basketball family, Lyndsey Huhn, scored her first basket at home in the second quarter, tallying four points overall with 9 rebounds.

For Greater Allegheny, Tra-Esha Carswell was perfect with her free throws going 2 for 2, helping her team shoot 5-13 overall in free throws while Fayette accumulated more attempts managing to sink 55% of those shots.

Four Fayette players achieved double digits on the scoreboard led by sophomore guard, Haley Moreland, reaching 19 points and junior forwards, Courtney Haines and Taylor Smith, both kept up the pace with 17 points apiece. Taylor Smith even recorded a double-double for her team with her 17 points and 21 rebounds.

The Fayette ladies took full advantage of turnovers throughout the game responding with 24 points.

Penn State Fayette will be traveling to face the Penn State Mont Alto women's team this weekend on Sunday, January 24th at 1pm, working to improve their winning streak to four games.
