Women's Basketball return from Johnson and Wales (NC) Tipoff Classic

Lemont Furnace, PA – After being defeated by SUNY Delhi in the first game of the season, the Penn State Fayette women's basketball would travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete in the 2017 Johnson & Wales Tipoff Tournament. Fayette would play on Friday, November 10th against West Virginia Tech and Saturday, November 11th against Johnson & Wales. The Roaring Lions would looking to get the first win of the season on the road in North Carolina.

On Friday, Fayette would be defeated by West Virginia Tech, 101-53. In the first quarter, the Roaring Lions were unable to record a point as West Virginia Tech would record 30 in the 1st. Fayette would regroup and respond with 22 points to WV Tech's 16. After halftime, WV Tech would take the lead and hold on in the second half to defeat Penn State Fayette. Leading for Fayette, Ashley Sharp had 17 points with 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 assist. Haley Moreland recorded 16 points with 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Taylor Harbaugh tallied 10 points with 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Hannah Kline contributed with 4 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Melissa Bochnak had 3 points with 5 rebounds. Fayette was 23.1% from the field and 72.5% from the foul-line. Fayette would have a total of 24 rebounds and 22 turnovers.

Penn State Fayette would switch their focus to the next game, which took place on Saturday, November 11th against Johnson & Wales (NC). Fayette would fall in the final game of the tournament, 96-49. Ashley Sharp led the way with another 17 point game. Sharp would have 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal for Fayette. Haley Moreland would record another 16 point game as well with 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals on the evening. Melissa Bochnak had 7 points with 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. Taylor Harbaugh would finish the night with 7 points with 3 rebounds. Fayette was 24.2% from the field and 11.8% from 3 point range. The Roaring Lions would record 19 rebounds and 22 turnovers on the night.

Coming up next, Fayette women's basketball will have 2 weeks off to regroup before their next match-up against Butler County Community College. The match is set for Wednesday, November 29th at 5:00 PM in Butler, PA.
