UC Clermont proved to be too much for Fayette

Lemont Furnace, PA – On December 15, 2017, the Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions were set to host a non-conference USCAA matchup against the visiting UC Clermont Cougars for a 6:00pm tipoff time. In a three quarter competitive push to gain the lead, Fayette had proven to have dug an unmanageable hole too early in the contest, ultimately losing 53-68.

On the shoulders of UC Clermont's Ashley Johnson and Arica Stutz, the Cougars lit up the scoreboard with an unprecedented 24-12 lead. Johnson and Stutz would post an impressive 8 and 6 points, respectively. Although doubling the Lady Roaring Lions score total going into the 2nd quarter, Fayette would manage to tighten down with solid defensive play allowing 14 points and posting another 12 of their own. Fayette's Ashley Sharp would manage to post 9 points of her own as the Lady Roaring Lions would seemingly ignite with signs of composure heading into the 2nd half.

With a more balanced attack and defensive stand from Fayette's starters, Clermont would prove to once again thwart the opposition with a more balanced approach of their own. Johnson would once again serve as the Cougars go-to player posting 5 points from the field. The Cougars would receive additional help from Beasley, Stutz, and McQueen. The Roaring Lion would ignite in the 4th quarter for seemingly fierce comeback effort. Taylor Harbaugh would post 7 points and 3 rebounds. Senior Haley Moreland would also contribute 5 more points towards the Roaring Lions 18 point 4th quarter performance.

The Lady Roaring Lions would drop to 3-5 overall at the conclusion of the Fall Semester. Fayette will be back in action January 5th, 2018 as they host Butler County Community College for a 1:00pm non-conference matchup.
