PS Schuylkill downs Lady Roaring Lions

Lemont Furnace, PA – Entering the weekend and struggling as of late, the Penn State Fayette women's basketball team would compete in their first contest since January 5th and their first PSUAC match-up for the spring season against Penn State Schuylkill. An early 1st half lead would prove to dig a hole too deep for the Lady Roaring Lions to overcome.

Led by Schuylkill's Makenna Rushannon, Caitria Bowen, and Alyssa Gerber's strong defensive and offensive play, with each tallying 10 points, Schuylkill would take a 32-19 lead going into the 2nd half of the contest. The 2nd half would prove to show Fayette's lack of bench presence detrimental to their cause in mounting a hopeful comeback.

Fayette post another less-than 20 point performance, eventually being defeated by a score of 35-60. One promising take-away from the match-up was the apparent consistent distribution of total points from nearly all members of the Lady Roaring Lions squad. Melissa Bochnak would tally 9 pts, freshman transfer Hanna Stockwell tallied 8 pts, and junior guard Hannah Kline posted 6 pts.

Women's basketball will be back in action January 19thth as they travel to Penn State York for an 6pm tipoff.
