Lady Roaring Lions fall in weekend PSUAC matchups

York, PA- Going into the weekend struggling as of late, the Penn State Fayette women's basketball team would compete in their first contest since a 60-35 PSUAC match-up against Penn State Schuylkill.  The Penn State Roaring Lion's traveled to Penn State York for another PSUAC game.  With a tie game of 33 points apiece, it was all up for grabs between Penn State York, and Penn State Fayette.

Once the second half rolled around Penn State York began to take over.  Led by the strong play of Emily Colon, Karra Thomason, and Corina Rivera on both sides of the ball.  Colon would finish with a total of 19 points and 11 rebounds, Thomason tallied 16 points and 5 rebounds, and Rivera went on to finish the game 13 points and two rebounds.  For the Roaring Lions an impressive showing of 29 points and 3 rebounds from Haley Moreland and also a strong game from Hanna Stockwell who recorded 19 points and 3 rebounds was not quite enough to conquer Penn state York.  The Roaring Lions fell to Penn State York in the PSUAC game by a final of 80-70.

The Roaring Lions had more bench presence in the game against Penn State York as one promising take away from the loss.  Kaitlyn Wilson came through as a reserve to finish with 7 points and 4 rebounds.  Serena Rohland was also a contributor as a reserve with 2 points.

Mont Alto, PA- After a close loss to Penn State York the night before, the Penn State Fayette women's basketball team traveled to Mont Alto to face Penn State Mont Alto.  Penn State Fayette would enter the game with a chip on their shoulder after losing less that twenty-four hours before hand. 

For the second time in two games the Penn State Fayette women played hard in the first half and kept the game very manageable with Penn State Mont Alto with a halftime score of 39-30.  With a light deficit the Roaring Lions took to the floor for the second half.  The Roaring Lions would fall to Penn State Mont Alto letting the deficit in points grow for a final score of 77-57.

Haley Moreland put together another impressive performance for the Roaring Lions piling up 22 Points and a respectable 10 rebounds.  Hanna Stockwell and Kori Whitehead would also finish in double figures for the roaring Lions with totals of 12 and 13 points. 

Penn State Mont Alto was led by Charity Miller who accounted for 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Other double figure scorers for Penn state Mont Alto were Alexis Shaffer with 19 points and angel Schoonover.  Both Shaffer and Schoonover put in impressive minutes as reserves and compiled solid games for Penn State Mont Alto.

Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions basketball will be back in action January 23rd as they face Penn State Greater Allegheny at home with a 6pm tipoff.
