Women's basketball fall to UC Clermont in final matchup of USCAA Tipoff Classic

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette women's basketball team, playing without two injured starters, fell to Cincinnati Clermont Saturday, 60-55.

Fayette raced out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter, but Clermont outscored the Nittany Lions 17-6 in the second quarter and the guests led at the half, 26-25.

Fayette retook the lead, 40-38, heading into the fourth quarter, but the guests pulled out the win.

Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) led Fayette with 18 points, but she needed 23 shots to get there.

Lyndsey Huhn (California, PA/California HS) had 11 points and seven rebounds, Taylor Costa (Donora, PA/Ringgold HS) had 10 points and nine rebounds and Shelbie Brown (Camden, OH/Preble Shawnee HS) had eight points and eight rebounds.

Fayette (0-2) will look to pick up its first win of the season when it hosts Westmoreland County Community College Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
