WBB earns first win behind Costa's big night

Garrett County, Md - The Penn State Fayette women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 69-62 decision at Garrett College Friday night.

"We won with a good team effort and good shooting," said head coach Scott Hillen. "I am seeing improvement."

Fayette jumped out to a 14-13 lead after the first quarter and led 33-28 at the half.

The Nittany Lions outscored the hosts 18-12 in the third quarter to take a 51-40 lead into the fourth quarter and got the win.

Taylor Costa (Donora, PA/Ringgold HS) led the way in the scoring column for Fayette with 22 points and had 11 rebounds, six steals and three blocks while Taylor Harbaugh (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart HS) scored 16 points, Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) scored 13 points while adding a team-high five rebounds and Shelbie Brown (Camden, OH/Preble Shawnee HS)had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Fayette shot 41% (20-49) from the field and 50% (5-10) from beyond the arc.
