WBB drop PSUAC contest to first-place PSU Beaver

Lemont Furnace, PA - The young Penn State Fayette women's basketball fell behind 25-7 after one quarter and lost a PSUAC home game to first place Penn State Beaver on Saturday, 82-74.

Unfortunately for Fayette (4-10 overall, 2-4 PSUAC), the final difference of eight points was the closest the team was able to get since the middle of the first quarter.

The team shot 38.2% from the floor (29-76) and could not take advantage of a 12-shot advantage over the guests as Beaver (12-2, 6-0) made 32 of its 64 shot attempts (50%).

Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) led Fayette with game-highs of 23 points and six steals while Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) added 20 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

 Taylor Costa (Donora, PA/Ringgold HS) had 10 points and nine rebounds for Fayette.

Beaver, which put five players in double figures, was led by Diamond Thomas who finished with 22 points.

For the game, Beaver outrebounded Fayette, 38-37, while it had 21 assists on its 32 baskets whereas Fayette assisted on 17 of its 29 baskets.

Beaver scored 30 points off of 30 Fayette turnovers while Fayette scored 26 points off of 24 Beaver turnovers.

Fayette heads to Penn State DuBois Tuesday, January 15 for a PSUAC contest.

Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m.
