Fayette women rout New Kensington

Lemont Furnace, PA - Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) led six players in double figures with 18 points as Penn State Fayette rolled to a 92-26 win over Penn State New Kensington Wednesday.

Joining Riley in double figures were Bailey Vig (California, PA/California HS) with 15, Taylor Costa (Donora, PA/Ringgold HS) with 14, Carissa Cyphert (Scottsdale, PA/Southmoreland HS) with 12, Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) with 11 and Lyndsey Huhn (California, PA/California HS) with 10.

Huhn led the way with 10 rebounds while Costa (six), Huhn (five) and Riley (four) combined for 15 of Fayette's 28 steals.

All nine Fayette players who played scored and each had at least one steal.

Fayette shot 46.4% (39-84) for the game while New Kensington shot 24.3% (9-37).

In the first quarter, Fayette jumped out to an 8-0 lead and the outcome was never in doubt as it led after one, 25-9.

Fayette scored 24, 17 and 26 points over the last three quarters as eight of the nine Fayette players played at least 16 minutes.

Erika Finn led New Kensington with 11 points.

Up next for Fayette is a weekend road trip that will see Fayette play at Penn State Brandywine on Friday and then at Penn State Lehigh Valley Saturday.

Fayette hosts Penn State Beaver in a PSUAC contest Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
