WBB dominates PSU Schuylkill

Lemont Furnace, PA - The PSU Fayette women's basketball team is playing with confidence as it won its fourth game in five tries as it downed PSU Schuylkill Friday night, 79-33.

Carissa Cyphert (Scottsdale, PA/Southmoreland HS) led five Fayette (10-13, 6-7) players with a career-high 14 points and she grabbed five rebounds.

Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) added 12 points and a game-high five assists, Bailey Vig (California, PA/California HS) had 12 points, Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) tallied 11 and Lyndsey Huhn (California, PA/California HS) chipped in with 10.

The outcome was never in doubt as Fayette outscored Schuylkill (0-20, 0-14) in the first quarter, 30-9.

After leading 45-22 at the half, Fayette extended the lead in the third by outscoring Schuylkill 16-4 in the third and then 18-7 in the fourth.

Fayette dominated in every facet in the game including scoring 39 points off of 29 Schuylkill turnovers as compared to giving the ball up 12 times.

Using a 41-shot advantage, Fayette shot 37.8% (34-90) while Schuylkill shot 26.5% (13-49).

Other key advantages for Fayette were with rebounds (61-30), assists (20-5), bench points (30-0), points in the paint (38-12) and second chance points (24-5).

Morgan Edge (14) and Alyssa Gerber (13) combined for 27 of Schuylkill's 33 points.

Fayette has a quick turnaround as it hosts PSU Hazleton Saturday at noon.
