WBB drops opener

The Penn State Fayette women's basketball team opened its season at Chatham Wednesday and the short-handed Nittany Lions fell, 90-56.

"Chatham did a great job on the boards and we gave them too many second-chance points," said Fayette head coach Scott Hillen. "Offensively, we struggled to execute and were not able to get shots up because we turned the ball over too much."

Fayette only had six players due to injuries.

Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS), Anaisa Harris (Uniontown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) and Taylor McCormick (Laurel, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt HS) led Fayette with 11 points each while Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) added 10, Shelbie Brown (Camden, OH/Preble Shawnee HS) had nine and Brooke Poling (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier HS) had four.

The Nittany Lions return to the court with two games this weekend.

On Saturday, they go to Miami University-Hamilton and on Sunday, they go to Cincinnati-Clermont.

Both games start at 1 PM.
