WBB drops regular season finale

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette women's basketball team closed the regular season with a 92-69 loss to Penn State Beaver Friday night.

"We didn't play our best game and had three players foul out," head coach Scott Hillen said. "We can't play a bad game and hope to beat a good team."

Beaver (21-4, 17-0) is the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) West division champion while Fayette (16-8, 11-6) finishes in second.

Fayette never led after the first minute of the game and Beaver controlled almost every aspect throughout.

Beaver shot 45% (34-75) for the game and 43% (6-14) from downtown while Fayette shot 32% (22-69) for the game and only 17% (3-18) from beyond the arc.

Fayette placed five players in double figures and was led by Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS), who scored 17 points.   Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) added 15, Taylor McCormick (Laurel, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt HS) scored 13, Carissa Cyphert (Scottsdale, PA/Southmoreland HS) finished with 11 and Brooke Poling (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier HS) ended up with 10.

Beaver also placed five players in double figures and was led by Diamond Thomas, who finished with 20.

Preparation for the PSUAC tournament is underway for Fayette.  It hosts Penn State DuBois Tuesday in a quarterfinal match.  The game starts at 6 p.m.
