Fayette Wrapped Up by Penn State Greater Allegheny, Falls 20-9

McKEESPORT, Pa. - Penn State Fayette's fourth ever wrestling match ended in a 20-9 loss at the hands of Penn State Greater Allegheny in a Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference contest Tuesday night. The Roaring Lions (2-2, 2-2 PSUAC) managed two wins in six contests, but couldn't overcome a late push from the Lions.

 

Kenny Seliga remained undefeated at 133, pinning Greater Allegheny's Bobby Williams at the 2:35 mark. Freshman Jacob Durbin (Nineveh, Pa.) recorded Fayette's only other win with a 7-2 decision over Tyler McElheny at 157.

 

The turning point came during the match at 165, as Fayette junior Dan Karpency (Adah, Pa.) narrowly lost a 3-2 decision to Michael Pavasko. The loss marked Karpency's first in conference on the season.

 

Penn State Greater Allegheny scored pins in the final two matches, pulling away from Fayette for the win.

 

Durbin and freshman Mhye Brown (Columbus, Ga.) secured pins in non-scoring exhibition bouts for Fayette.

 

The Roaring Lions return to the mat on Friday, Jan. 20 at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Penn College for a conference match.
