Fayette Avenges Earlier Loss, Sweeps DuBois

Eighteenth-ranked Penn State Fayette avenged an earlier defeat to fifteenth-ranked Penn State DuBois 3-0 on Tuesday night at Fayette's Main Arena.

 

The Lady Roaring Lions swept by scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-11 to improve to 11-8 on the season and 8-2 in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference.

 

"This was really a statement game for us," Fayette Head Coach Nancy Wheeler said. "We are making a lot of progress and playing with confidence right now. This was a really good team we beat tonight. By far they are the most improved team in our conference. Their coach does a great job."

 

The Fayette offense was evenly balanced with Leah Ambrosini (Connellsville) leading the way with 10 kills. Junior Alex Rossi (Yough) added 8 and freshman Marney Hillen (Geibel Catholic) had eight.

 

Katie Sleasman (Connellsville) had 28 assists.

 

The Lady Roaring Lions used a 14-6 run midway through the first game to take control. A 21-6 streak powered Fayette to a game two win.

 

Fayette returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Penn State Scranton at 1 p.m. and Penn State Wilkes Barre at 2:30 p.m.
