No. 3 Fayette Keeps on Streaking for 29

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The no. 3 ranked Penn State Fayette volleyball team swept Penn State Mont Alto, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-13) to advance to the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference Tournament Finals at Rec Hall. It is the fourth straight season Fayette has advanced to the finals.

 

Fayette hit .304 during the set, while holding Mont Alto to an .087 percentage. Fayette was led by junior Leah Ambrosini (Connellsville, Pa.) with 11 kills, while freshman Samantha Helmantoler (Monongahela, Pa.) added a career high 10 kills. Freshman Janelle Cooper (Mount Braddock, Pa.) added seven kills and 10 digs, while freshman Katlyn Salisbury (Madison, Pa.) added five kills and four blocks.

 

Senior Katie Sleasman (Connellsville, Pa.) led with 25 assists and eight digs, while sophomore Victoria Kearns (Uniontown, Pa.) added a match-high 14 digs.

 

Fayette will return to Rec Hall at 2:30 p.m. to meet no. 2 seed Penn College, who defeated Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 3-1, in the first semifinal. Fayette defeated Penn in the opening Penn State Beaver Invitational, 3-0, and then again in the regular season, 3-0.
