Roaring Lions Win PSUAC Opener

MCKEESPORT – Third-ranked Penn State Fayette opened the PSUAC regular season with a 3-0 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny. The four-time defending conference champions won by scores of 25-6, 25-9 and 25-10.

Sophomore Emily Konter (Brownsville, Pa.) notched 22 assists on the evening, while senior Leah Ambrosini (Connellsville, Pa.) led the way with 14 kills in 18 total attacks and added five service aces and three blocks. Emily Caldwell (Belle Vernon, Pa.) and Samantha Helmantoler (Monongahela, Pa.) each had five kills while Katlyn Salisbury (Madison, Pa.) added five blocks. Freshman Laura Hefner (Bridgeport, W.Va.) had four digs. Jannelle Cooper  (Mt. Braddock, Pa.) notched five digs.

The Roaring Lions improve to 7-4 on the season, 1-0 in PSUAC play. The team returns to action tonight when it hosts Point Park for an exhibition match. First serve is 7 p.m
