Roaring Lions Defeat Penn State Beaver 3-0

UNIONTOWN – Penn State Fayette defeated Penn State Beaver 3-0 to pick up its second conference win of the year.

 The Roaring Lions won by scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-8.
 

Leah Ambrosini (Connellsville, Pa.) led an effective Fayette offense, recording 14 kills on 19 attempts for an incredible hitting percentage of .737. The three-time All-American also added two services aces and three digs.

 Emily Caldwell (Belle Vernon, Pa.) added seven kills and chipped in with a service ace. Emily Konter (Brownsville, Pa.) registered 23 assists and seven service aces. Samantha Helmantoler (Monongahela, Pa.) added four kills on five attacks and also had a pair of aces.
 
Kayona Ward paced Penn State Beaver with four kills while Gina Richman added eight assists. Miranda Pfeiffer and Diana Owens each added an assist and Owens had two digs.
Coach Nancy Wheeler's team improves to 7-5 on the year and 2-0 in the PSUAC. The team is currently ranked ninth in the most recent USCAA Coaches Poll, released on Wednesday.
 

Fayette travels to Penn State York on Saturday for matches against York and Penn State Mont Alto. On Sunday the Roaring Lions travel to Schuylkill Haven to face Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Brandywine.

The next home game for the Roaring Lions will be Saturday, Oct. 6 when they host Penn State New Kensington at 1 p.m. in the Community Center's Main Arena.
