Fifth-Ranked Fayette Downs Penn State DuBois 3-0 in Volleyball Action

DUBOIS – Penn State Fayette kept its PSUAC record clean after a 3-0 win over Penn State DuBois on Tuesday night at Dubois. Fifth-ranked Fayette won by scores of  25-15, 25-16 and 25-9.

 

Emily Caldwell (Belle Vernon, Pa.) led a powerful Fayette attack with 12 kills. Samantha Helmontoler (Monongahela, Pa.), added nine while Emily Konter (Brownsville, Pa.) and Janelle Cooper (Mt. Braddock, Pa.) each added seven and Kaitlyn Salisbury (Madison, Pa.) chipped in with five.

 

Konter continued to spark the offense, notching 28 assists, a block and an ace, to go with two digs. Helmantoler anchored the defense with seven digs while Abbey Tirpak (California, Pa.) and Cooper each added four and Laura Hefner (Bridgeport, W.Va.) had two.

 

Salisbury, who is currently tenth in the nation in blocks per set had four as the Roaring Lions improved to 13-5 overall, 7-0 in the PSUAC.

 

Fayette returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 when the Roaring Lions host Penn State New Kensington. First serve is at 1:00 p.m.

 

NOTES:

Fayette's three-time USCAA All-American Leah Ambrosini did not make the trip. Sunday's game with Penn State Greater Allegheny has been postponed. The game will be played as part of a Tri-Match with Penn State Beaver on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Fayette. The Roaring Lions face Beaver at 6:30 p.m. and Greater Allegheny at 8:15.
