On to the Quarterfinals: Win Over NHTI Punches Ticket to Next Round

CANTON, N.Y. -- Penn State Fayette is moving on. The PSUAC regular season champions defeated NHTI 2-1 this morning to qualify for the quarterfinals of the USCAA National Volleyball Tournament at SUNY-Canton.

After dropping the first set 25-22, the Roaring Lions rebounded with a 25-21 win in the second game and then closed out the match with a 15-9 in in the third game.

Four-time All-American Leah Ambrosini (Connellsville, Pa.) led the offense with 16 kills. Jannelle Cooper (Mt. Braddock, Pa.) added a pair. Second Team All-American Emily Konter (Brownsville, Pa.) dished out 30 assists.

Cooper anchored the offense with seven digs, while Emily Caldwell (Belle Vernon, Pa.) and Konter each added six. Kaitlyn Salisbury added three blocks.

With the victory, Fayette advances to the quarterfinal round for the third time in school history and the second in the last three years. Next up, a date with host school SUNY-Canton at 4 p.m.
