The Penn State Fayette volleyball team geared up for a tough weekend with a five-set win at West Virginia University of Potomac Wednesday.

"The team battled tough and we are still working out the kinks with our lineup," said Fayette head coach Sam Swetz. "Overall, I am happy for the highlighted potential that I see."

After winning the first set (25-20), Fayette fell behind two set to one when it dropped the next two sets (22-25, 12-25).

With their backs against the wall, the Nittany Lions roared back to win the fourth set (26-24) and took the deciding fifth set, 15-10.

Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) had 17 kills, Machaela Hall (Fairchance, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) recorded 28 digs, Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, Carmichaels HS) dished out 26 assists and Justyn Howell (Hunker, PA/Southmoreland HS) added 15.

Fayette heads to PSU-DuBois for a pair of tough contests Saturday as it opens Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play against the hosts at noon and then face Carlow at 2 PM.

PSUAC teams are members of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's (USCAA) Division 2 while Carlow is a USCAA Division 1 team.

Fayette has never defeated Carlow.

On Sunday, Fayette hosts PSU-Shenango in a PSUAC conference match at 2 PM.

Prior to the contest, the 2018 PSUAC championship banner will be raised to the rafters and there will be a dedication to Trevor Thomas as well.
