VB records 16th sweep of the season

The Penn State Fayette volleyball team rolled to is 12th straight win Tuesday night with a three-set sweep at Penn State New Kensington in Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) action.

Fayette (20-2, 9-1), which maintains first place in the PSUAC West division, won the sets 25-9, 25-14 and 25-17 and have now swept 16 opponents this season.

"It was a great win heading into our biggest game of the season," head coach Sam Swetz said, speaking of the huge showdown at Penn State Greater Allegheny Saturday. "Now it is complete focus moving forward.

"No distractions."

Reigning United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and PSUAC Player of the Year Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) had eight kills and seven digs.

Machaela Hall (Fairchance, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) tallied 19 digs while both Justyne Howell (Hunker, PA/Southmoreland HS) and Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, Carmichaels HS) had 13 assists.

The straight-set win continues Fayette's dominance over its 12-match winning streak as it has won 34 of 36 sets played during the run.

Fayette heads to PSU GA (16-8, 7-3) looking to avenge a three-set home loss on September 22.

Currently, sits two games up on both GA as well as Penn State Beaver (16-7, 7-3) in the division race.
