Volleyball clinches first seed in PSUAC West
Lemony Furnace, PA- Fayette Volleyball has clinched the first seed in the PSUAC West.
Fayette Volleyball has clinched the first seed in the PSUAC West as of Friday, October 18, by sweeping Penn State Greater Allegheny on the road. Fayette finished regular season 9-1 in the conference and 11-7 overall. Their only conference loss coming from Penn State Shenango; however, Fayette was able to come back with vengeance the next time they met with a 3-1 victory at home. Fayette has always shown dominance in the PSUAC over the past twenty years, however a first seed heading into the playoffs has not happened in five years. The last time Fayette was the number one seed heading into post season they won a PSUAC Championship and USCAA National Championship.
Coach Anna Tale weighed in on the first seed berth, "I'm proud of this group of ladies, I know they've worked hard to get to where we are at today. Even though we've struggled with communication and being consistent throughout each match, I have seen tremendous improvement and growth in the girls as the season went on. The 2019 season, the same year we won USCAA Nationals, was the last time Fayette had clinched 1st in the West in the PSUAC playoffs. It means a lot to me because the hard work this season has paid off into Fayette clinching that 1st spot in the West again."
Coach Anna knows a thing or two about post season in her previous coaching years. As an assistant coach, she was a part of two PSUAC Championships and one USCAA National title. In her first season last year, she accomplished a fourth place finish at the USCAA National Tournament and a semi-final match up for PSUAC Conference Championships.
Fayette will host Penn State New Kensington for a home match for the PSUAC Quarterfinals. Fayette has won both matches against Penn State New Kensington in regular season. Heading into this exciting post season week, Fayette is coming off of two USCAA Players of the Week, with Tyannah Eddings and Kamden Miller. Eddings, senior libero, has dominated on defense, finishing regular season with 403 digs. While Miller has proven to be clutch in big games this past season, having a .550 hitting percentage on Friday night. The PSUAC Quater Final match will take place on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 P.M in the Community Center Main Arena.
