Bio

Samantha Swetz was named Penn State Fayette Assistant Director of Athletics in April of 2022. She began her term with Penn State Fayette in May 2017 as a Head Volleyball Coach. Beginning Fall 2017, Swetz was hired and served as an Administrative Support Assistant for three years. Samantha was then hired in January 2020 as the full time Athletic Coordinator.

In addition to her duties as an administrator, Swetz is highly engaged on campus and within the community. She is responsible for overseeing the campus fitness and recreational services, assisted with development of student athlete academic/mental health support programs (i.e. Student Athletes Graduate and Excel – SAGE, Study Tables for incoming freshman/transfer students and the CARES Team), organized the launching of the Fayette Athletics Network (the FAN) that involved play by play broadcasting and connected Fayette Athletics with Fayette County Community Action for multiple events. Swetz has added the need of celebration of the athletes by being the first to launch all social media for the department and design work that can be found in the hallways of the Communit Center. In Swetz first full year as Assistant Athletic Director she was able to average a Fayette athlete recieving either conference or national player of the week every week for the full academic year, along with nominating and securing four USCAA Student Athlete of the Year awards for deserving students.

Along with her duties in her full-time role on campus, Swetz was also the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach from 2017-2022. Swetz was able to obtain two PSUAC Conference Championships and a USCAA National Title in her reign. She has coached two "USCAA Player of the Year" and "PSUAC Player of the Year" student athletes, along with developing six All American selections. While individually accomplishing PSUAC Coach of the Year (2019) and USCAA National Coach of the Year (2019).

Prior to Penn State Fayette, Swetz worked as a Penn Highlands Volleyball Club board member for four years. Her job included website and social media management, supervising the youth program, managing tryouts, ordering equipment and scheduling practices with local community facilities. Swetz also coached at local school districts Laurel Highlands(2015-2018) and Uniontown (2015), along with doing dozens of camps for local Fayette County Volleyball programs in the area from 2011-2021.

Ringgold Graduate (2011), Samantha adopted Fayette County as her own when she committed as an athlete and studied at Penn State Fayette from 2011-2015. She obtained her baccalaureate degree in Administration of Justice, while being a student athlete. During her collegiate career Swetz was a three time PSUAC All Conference select and was a part of four PSUAC Championships that were all undefeated conference seasons. Samantha also obtained a master of science degree in Sports Management with a focus in intercollegiate athletics at California University of Pennsylvania.

In her spare time, she enjoys going to church, watching her children play soccer, and watching WWE wrestling with her husband.

Swetz resides in Uniontown, Pa with her husband Corey and two children, Lincoln and Roselyn.
