Roaring Lions Basketball opens season with win

Lemont Furnace, PA – The Penn State Fayette men's basketball 2017-2018 regular season began last night. Under new leadership in Head Coach, Kenneth Johnson, and Assistant Coach, Robert Swope, Penn State Fayette traveled to the city of Pittsburgh. They would take on CCAC in a non-conference match-up at 6:00 PM. This would be the first game of the season for the Roaring Lions and they were ready to begin the season with a victory.

Penn State Fayette defeated CCAC, 77-72. In the first quarter, Penn State Fayette would outscore CCAC, 38-35 going into halftime. CCAC would attempt to regroup and take the lead away, but the Roaring Lions would respond and win the quarter, 39-37, and win the first game of the season. Leading for the Roaring Lions, John Bristol posted 17 points and London Hoxie recorded 16 points. Marvin Sidon would have 15 points on the evening. Atrayo Matthews would finish the game with 12 points and Tavian Mozie was right behind him with 11 points. Iman Young would contribute with 4 points and Jamar Dues would have 2 points to help contribute to the victory. Penn State Fayette was 51.9% from the field and 32.1% from three-point range. The Roaring Lions would be 75% from the free-throw line. It was a good start to the season and Coach Johnson's first game with Penn State Fayette.

Coming up, Penn State Fayette switches their focus to the next challenge. The Roaring Lions will travel to Greensburg, PA. They will take on Pitt Greensburg in a non-conference match-up. The game is set to begin at 7:00 PM. The first home game of the season for the Roaring Lions will not occur for another month. They will host the first home game of the season on Tuesday, December 6th.  Penn State Fayette will host Penn State New Kensington in a PSUAC match-up and the first division game of the season.
