Cross Country Opens Season With Solid Effort

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - The Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2011 season with a solid effort at the Westmoreland Community College Invitational. A true individual meet, the men placed all five runners in the top 11, while the women took nine of the top 12 spots.

 

Sophomore Jennifer Naymick (Uniontown, Pa.) finished the 5K course in 25:47, taking third in the women's division. Freshman Kevin Diamond (Uniontown, Pa.) took sixth on the 5K men's course with a time of 20:32. Sophomore Carin Benz (Lewistown, Pa.) finished shortly behind Naymick, placing fifth at 26:09, and freshman Dom Lee (Uniontown, Pa.) took seventh in the men's race with a time of 21:08.

 

Fayette opens up the conference slate on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1:00 p.m., traveling to Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
