October 1, 2011

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Sophomore Carin Benz (Lewistown, Pa.) finished fourth at the Penn State Mont Alto Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, earning her first medal as a Fayette runner. Benz led the pack for the Roaring Lions women's team, but several were not far behind, as Fayette finished one point behind Mont Alto, 28-29, to finish second for the second consecutive meet.

The men's team completed their day in record-setting fashion as well, finishing third to cap their best ever finish. Freshman Kevin Diamond (Uniontown, Pa.) led Fayette with a 13th place finish, with freshman DonMonique Lee (Uniontown, Pa.) finishing in 15th.

Overall, the women placed five runners in the top ten, including sophomores Jennifer Naymick (Uniontown, Pa.), Jacynth Drumhiller (Uniontown, Pa.), Samantha Virgillo (Dunbar, Pa.), and Heather Hunchuck (Uniontown, Pa.).
