Solid outing for Fayette at Wolfpack Invitational

Lemont Furnace, PA- The Penn State Fayette men's and women's Cross Country team attended the Wolfpack Invitational at Westmoreland Country Community College and came away with favorable results.

On the men's side, the team finished second place to winner, Frostburg University.  The team was led by freshman Nyoah Marteny's 5th place finish in 18:06. He was joined on the podium by freshman Aaron Mylan who was 2 seconds behind in 7th place. 

Sophomore Michael Elliott finished in 19:34, good for 17th place. The team was helped out by freshman PJ Savini and junior transfer Austin Bittner, whose finishes in 25th and 27th place sealed the second place trophy. Freshman Ty Hunker(36th) and sophomore Anthony Berdine (38th) finished out the scoring for the Roaring Lions. Hayden Rhodes finished 41st overall.

The women's team finished in fourth place, securing the best team finish for women since 2011.  Leading the team was Freshman Anna Elko, completing the course in 26:35.  Senior Kirsten Webb was next for the Lady Lions in 29:10. Helping complete the team scoring were sophomore Stephanie Hall, freshman Amber Glodziak, and Junior Emma Hepler

The team started their season at the California University Invitational, where both teams finished fourth against an all NCAA Division II field.   Marteny led the men's team, and Elko once again led the women's. The next match-up for the teams will be against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday, September 16th at 1:00 PM.
