Fayette XC places 2nd at Wolfpack Invitational

Youngwood, Pa - The Cross-Country team faced eight teams in the Wolfpack Invitational at Westmoreland County Community College on Saturday and it also took on Mother Nature and finished in second place behind Frostburg University.

"It was a sloppy and rainy mess," said head coach Joe Carei. "Frostburg is a tough NCAA Division III team that is transitioning to Division II."

"They will be at our meet on October 13 and we hope to challenge them better."

Nyoah Marteny (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) looked best for the Nittany Lions with a time of 18:07.5 to finish seventh while Devin Pisarski (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville HS) came in at 11th with a time of 18:14.9.

Aaron Mylan (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson-Morgan HS) was 14th with a time of 18:32.9, Mitchell Minda (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward HS) finished 15th with a time of 18:41.9, Michael Elliot (Clarksville, PA/Beth-Center HS) was 17th at 19:02.1, Drew Erdman (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem HS) came in at 18th at 19:03.4 and Stephen Lacek (Fort Cherry, PA/Fort Cherry HS) was 21st at 19:34.4.

Carei said a hard week of practice helped the team.

"We ran well after a challenging week of practice," he said. "We were basically running through this meet and while we have work to do, I was pleased with the gap of less than a minute on our pack."
