Fayette XC wins Mont Alto Invitational

Mont Alto, Pa - The Penn State Fayette cross country team faced its first PSUAC race Saturday at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational, and it came home as the winner at the race once again.

"This was our first race against PSUAC competition (this season) and it looks good for us," said coach Joe Carei. "I am pleased with the results as we kept a few guys back on campus to keep them healthy."

Four Fayette runners finished in the top 10 and Nyoah Marteny (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) looked best for the team as he finished third with a time of 29:57 with a 6:01 pace per mile.

His overall time was only 23 seconds behind he inning time of 29:34 by Jack Dodson.

"Nyoah ran a personal record for the course," said Carei.

Devin Pisarski (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville HS) finished fourth with a time of 30:45.

Michael Elliot (Clarksville, PA/Beth-Center HS) took sixth with a time of 31:29 and Drew Erdman (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem HS) finished six seconds back of him at 31:35 to place seventh.

"Michael also ran a personal record for the course," Carei said. "This was also Mike's third time in helping the team win the invitational."

Stephen Lacek (Fort Cherry, PA/Fort Cherry HS) finished with a time of 51:03 to finish 27th and Aaron Mylan (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson-Morgan HS) finished 28th with a time of 51:27.
