XC has tremendous showing at PSU Brandywine

The Penn State Fayette Cross-Country team had a solid showing Saturday at PSU Brandywine.

The men's team won its meet while all four women's team members finished in the top 10.  Considering the team had a Track and Field event at Slippery Rock Friday, the team showed heart and determination to do as well as it did.

"We did great on a tough course and everyone did well," head coach Joe Carei said. "We had to drive five hours there and back, and the team spent 15 of the last 36 hours on a bus.  So, for the guys to come back with a win and for the women to have all of their times in the top 10, we did great."

Mitch Minda (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward HS) took first in the men's meet with a time of 19:05 while Alex Gostev took second in 20:16.

Drew Erdman (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem HS) finished seventh with a time of 22:05, PJ Savini (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands) was 10th in 23:00 and Steve Painter (Mt. Pleasant, PA/Mt. Pleasant HS) was 11th in 23:01.

Chloe Kalp took second in the women's meet with a time of 23:38. Josie Pinduro (Hopwood, PA/Geibel Catholic) finished third in 24:41, Haley Miller was sixth in 27:43 and Casey Falcon (Beth-Center, PA/Beth-Center HS) was 10th in 28:40.

The Cross-Country team has concluded its brief season and will now focus on the Track and Field team.  Carei is already looking forward to next season which will take place in the fall.

"It was fun but demanding to do track and cross-country at the same time," Carei said. "We'll be glad to get back to normal."
