Fayette XC Event Huge Success

Fayette XC Event Huge Success

Lemont Furnace, PA- Fayette has great turn out for the home event.

Cross Country fans were in heaven Saturday at Penn State Fayette's campus for the annual festivities. Runners from middle school to the collegiate level all raced yesterday at the campus. The "Aj Everhart Invitational" took place earlier in the day with over 650 participants. An event that has been going on in the community for 32 years.

Once the high school meet concluded the focus quickly shifted to a collegiate atmosphere with 100 runners ready to endure the fiercest weather of the day. The weather was no problem though for Chloe Kalp, winning the women's side of the race with a time of 25:26.4. The next closest runner to Chloe didn't finish for another 18 seconds. For the men's side, Sam Leonard placed 19th overall with a time of 37:15.8. First year runner, Marco Peccon placed 25th with a time of 38.26.6.

Coach Savini commented on the day, "Despite rainy weather conditions, the 7th annual roaring lions invitational went off without a hitch. Concluding with a home course advantage Chloe kalp finishing first overall for the women's race and both Marco Peacon and Sam Leonard finishing string for the men's team. Couldn't have asked for a better way to enter into our teams off week."

Fayette also was able to make additional history by having the PSUACs first ever cross country broadcast with commentary for the event. If you would like to check out the broadcast it is now available on demand on the F.A.N.
